Cork Athletics County Board and Athletics Ireland are delighted to
announce that Jim Harvey will be leading an endurance seminar on
Wednesday 12th August, in the CIT Athletic Meeting Rooms, at 7pm.
Assisting will be one of the UK’s leading coaches, Bud Baldaro, lead
coach at Birmingham University. Bud has coached many Olympians and UK
record holders, including World Silver medalist, 1500m - Hannah England.
Jim has been based in USA since 1982. He began coaching High School
students for 3 years, producing athletes that won New York State
titles, and finished in the top 10 of National High School
Championships. He then coached Rochester athletes Scott Bagley to
28.46 10k / 2.16 marathon and Mike Platt 29.15 10k /2.18
marathon. Jim followed these successes with a number of
Providence College athletes, after their graduation, including Mark
Carroll and US Olympian Amy Rudolph. He also coached Irish athlete
Richard O'Flynn (13.38 5k / 28.20 10k, and 63.20 half marathon).
Both are returning to share their experiences and coaching knowledge.
This is a great opportunity to find out more about the current distance running renaissance in the US.
The seminar is suitable for coaches and athletes aged 16 and above and certainly not one to be missed!!!
