Athletics Ireland Event Permits
Event Permits/Licences
Three (3) months notice is required for all event permits/licences
All athletic fixtures require an Athletics Ireland licence/permit - As of September 2017, Event Permit Applications should to be sought at least 3months in advance of the event, and all Permit Applications require approval by Cork Athletics County Board
Note: While three months is the minimum time required for permit applications, applications can be made at any stage. The Cork Athletics Events Calendar can post and schedule events months and even years in advance. Many events now apply for their Event Permit 12 months, and more, ahead of their scheduled event date
Where possible, event clashes should be avoided and clubs should check the Cork Athletics Fixtures Calendar, before submitting Permit Appications. [Please note that there may be applications in the system that have been provisionally approved, but are not yet listed, for varying reasons, e.g. pending measurement, failure to submit medical plan, or have omitted to complete part of the application form]
Additional Criteria
There must be at least 50km [as per Google] between event locations
and
where there is less than 50km between venues, there must be at least 36 hours between the events
These conditions MAY be waived if the existing permit agrees, AND submits this in writing to Cork County Board
All permit applications must be made by, or through, an Athletics Ireland member club
All Permits for events in County Cork *MUST* go through, and be approved by, Cork Athletics County Board
[In fact, a Permit Application for an event in ANY County MUST go through, and be approved by, the County Board in that county]
Sending permits directly to Athletics Ireland Head Office, in Dublin, will only delay, not speed-up, the application, and may result in the permit application being declined, due to clashes with events that may have been submitted in the meantime

Club Permit Application (where club is sole beneficiary of proceeds)
Charity/Small Organisation Permit Application (for small charities, fundraisers. Evidence of insurance needed)
Primary Schools Permit Application (participants are primary school pupils. Insurance covers up to 500 pupils)

Forms should be fully completed, and be accompanied by the appropriate fee, as per the application form. The fee must be made out to Athletics Ireland.
Applications in the form of notes, pieces of paper, or other similar formats are NOT acceptable. Each individual event permit application MUST be made by way of a fully completed form
Note: if applying for a Race Series, each individual race MUST have it's own individual application, i.e. one permit CANNOT serve all events in the series
The form should NOT be sent directly to Athletics Ireland headquarter, in Santry, Dublin - this will only result in delay in approval of the application, as the application will be returned to Cork Athletics for approval

Every event *MUST* have a medical plan in place when applying for a permit
Measurement
Road events must be measured, to IAAF standards, by an Athletics Ireland accredited measurer. The measurement certificate is valid for five (5) years, unless the course changes, be intention, or by virtue of road re-alignment. List of accredited Athletics Ireland Measurers
Insurance
Events organised directly by Athletics Clubs are normally covered by Athletics Ireland's insurance policy, however events organised by third parties, and other bodies, must provide documentary evidence of their insurance cover, when making the application.
