About
us:
Cork Athletics is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland.
Cork
Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and
field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The
Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs
and running clubs. Cork
County Board AAI organises Championship races and
competition, including road, track & field
(T&F) and
Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and
selects representation for the county. In addition,
training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board
also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence)
process for county Cork.
Event Permits: Three (3) months notice is required
for all event permits.
All

Fixtures require an AAI licence/permit - Permits should to be applied
for at least 3 months in advance of the event, and require approval by
the County Board.

Cork Athletics has moved to a
new responsive website. Over 80% of traffic now comes from mobile or
tablet sources, so the new website significantly improve users
experience. It will also allow significantly more information to
be made available on the website, with easy navivationcombined with a
strong search facility. This site, with it's 14 years of Cork Athletics
history, will continue to be available from the main menu on the new
site, but will no longer be updated

Error - While the full story of today's Half-Marathon has yet to

it is understood that a combination of errors led to the race going

stewarding the Cork City Marathon on Monday next, June 6th
Yuriy Sedykh will return to Cork City Sports to
commemorate the thirty second anniversary of the epic hammer duel at
the Mardyke, on 3rd July 1984.

AC Reception Honours Clubs Olympic and European Championship Athletes
Leevale AC held a
reception in Cork's River Lee Hotel, on Monday
May 30th, to acknowledge and honour the section of athletes and
officials for the forthcoming European Half-Marathon Championships, in
Amsterdam, in July, and the Rio Olympics
AIMS/IAAF Measurement Cert for Cork City Marathon Renewed
The Cork City Marathon
Course Measurement Certificate has been
renewed by AIMS, who administer the certification, on behalf of AIMS
and the IAAF. The certificate is valid until the end of 2020, or until
the course route changes

Entries are now being
taken, and are open to any junior athlete born 2000-1997.
The junior women's 800m race welcomes athletes of all standards sub
2:20, while the men's 1500m race will only accept athletes with a SB/PB
of sub 4:15

corresponding figure for April 30th 2015 was 5,548, so registrations

Entries
for Eagle AC's sellout event in Fota Wildlife Park, on Thurs May 19th,
open at 10am today, Thurs 28th April, with 450 places on offer, while
another 450 places will be available when engtries re-open at 7pm
This year's Leagues kick-off on Wed May 18th. A
change in the original provisional programme sees Round 2 deferred to
late August, to facilitate athletes who have Championship events
towards the latter end of the season

session will be given, in the Meeting Room at CIT Track,
at 8:30pm, on Thursday next, April 28th. The briefing will be
given
by Dr Aisling Parkes, and will cover diverse topics related to
Children and Vulnerable Adults. This workshop is open to Cork Athletics
