Car Parks

Location of Car Parks

 

Access and Parking

In recognition of the fact that parents and other supporters may have to pay for car parking, Cork Athletics County Board has decided not to charge any entrance fee for adults for the duration of the 2023 Juvenile County T&F Championships

Car Parking will be available in the Mart car park, next to the track (2 to 3 minute walk)

Limited car parking will be available at the track entrance

  • Viewing can be done all around the track
  • Tents & Gazebos can be put up
  • Toilets are available inside the An Riocht clubhouse - Wearing of Spikes is NOT permitted inside the clubhouse
  • Numbers must be collected, and signed for, on behalf of each club
  • individual numbers will not be distributed
  • A café will be in operation serving hot food (pizza, chicken, chips) as well as a selection of sandwiches, snacks and drinks

•   Pre race check in is NOT required

•   Athletes for track events will be called to assembly, and put into their assigned heats. Adjustments to heats may be made, depending on the number of no shows

•   Field event participants should go to their appropriate discipline when called

•   For relays only, the final leg athlete on each team must wear the bib number

•   Athletes taking part in the throwing events (Javelin, Discus and Hammer) may bring their own equipment

•   Turbo javelins will be provided by Cork Athletics

•   Track events will not be electronically timed

•   Sprint heats will be followed by semi finals, and then finals ( i.e. U9 heats, U10 heats, U11 heats, U9 semi finals etc

•   Athletes who qualify for semi-finals or finals will be kept on the track

•   Middle distance (300m, 500m and 600m) will be individual races with 1st , 2nd and 3rd for each race. The number of races will be based on the number of athletes who turn up at the start line when called

•  Where necessary heats and finals will take place for relays.  Similar to sprint races, the teams qualifying for finals
will be kept on the track

  There will be a café on site serving hot food, sandwiches, snacks and drinks


•  Tents & Gazebos can be erected around the outside of the track (marked as viewing area on the image above)

•  Toilets can be found in the clubhouse. Spikes may NOT be worn in the clubhouse

•  Warm up for relays can be done on the track in advance of the races
•  Only athletes and stewards are permitted to be inside on the track area for the duration of the competition

•  Athletes should be aware that there will be throwing events taking place on the infield during the track events

•  Stewards will bring children to their changeover stations for the relays. Parents and other spectators are asked not to telll children to change lanes, or to stand outside of their designated changeover zone. Failure to observe this may result in teams being in the incorrect lane, and possibly impeding other teams, as well as themselves

NB: Pole Vault Venue Change
- Following a review of the Pole Vault equipment in Castleisland, it was decided to move the pole vault county championship to the Leevale AC High Peformance facility, in Farranlea Road, Cork. The competition will take place on Monday 29th May. Warm up will commence at 6:00 pm, with the competition starting at 7:00 pm

Times

Due to Electronic Timing and Photo Finish constraints, any times achieved will not be accepted as qualifying times for European or World Athletics competions

 

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
