It was with great regret and sadness that we learnt of the death, on Friday October 11th 2024, of our esteemed colleague, George Walsh late of Youghal AC, and East Cork AC. George was a noted athlete in the 1980's and 1990's, in particular

The death has occurred of George Walsh

Catherine Street, Youghal, Cork

George, peacefully in the wonderful care of all at Cork University Hospital and surrounded by loving family, beloved husband of the late Brenda (Nee Leamy) and much loved Dad of Audrey, Valerie, and George, sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren Roisín, Ryan, Luke, Zack, Oisín and Killian, sons-in-law Tony and Robert, daughter-in-law Emma, brothers Michael, Freddie, Bob and the late Tommy, sisters Maura and Lil, brothers-in-law , sisters-in-law , nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends RIP

Reposing in Egans Funeral Home Greencloyne Youghal on Sunday from 4.30pm until 6pm

Requiem Mass on Monday at 1pm in the Holy Family Church Youghal with Funeral afterwards to North Abbey Cemetery Youghal

About Us

Cork Athletics County Board is a constituent member of Athletics Ireland. Cork Athletics is the governing body, administering athletics, track and field (T&F), cross-country (XC) and running in county Cork. The Board comprises elected representatives of constituent athletic clubs and running clubs. Cork County Board AAI organises Championship races and competition, including road, track & field (T&F) and Cross-country (XC), at junior, juvenile, senior and masters levels, and selects representation for the county. In addition, training and education is provided for coaches and officials. The Board also regulates the Athletics Ireland race/event permit (licence) process for county Cork.
