Charleston Southern University Report
"Fearghal Curtin placed second overall in the men's 5000m run, on the first day of the Florida Relays, as the freshman was the top underclassman (non-senior year) in the race. Curtin crossed the line in 14:02.88 to pace the Bucs and set a Charleston State University record in the event.
Curtin's time surpassed the previous record, set by Al Dunn, (14:16.44), at the Campbell Dual Meet in 1984, and the time likely places him in the NCAA Regionals, set to be held in Tampa, Florida, on May 24-26."
Fearghal's previous 5000m best was 15:18, which he ran at the Irish Schools T&F Championships, in June 2016. His previous 5k best on the road was 15:00, set when winning last year's (2017) Youghal 5k
Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month - December 2017
In January, Fearghal was awarded the Cork City Sports Cork Athlete of the Month Award for December, for his outstanding performance at the European Junior Cross-Country Championships, in Slovakia, last month. The award was presented at a function in the River Lee Hotel, Cork, on Thursday January 11th 2012. As Fearghal is studying, on athletics scholarship, in the United States, the award was accepted by Fearghal's parents, Geraldine and Noel Curtin
